　　影片改编自菲利普·罗斯2008年出版的同名小说，故事围绕上世纪50年代美国一名犹太裔男青年马科斯·梅思纳的苦闷与彷徨展开。

　　豪富的巴克家族继承人——亚瑟（拉塞尔•布兰德 Russell Brand 饰）是纽约城里知名的彼得潘式的人物，他化装成蝙蝠侠横冲直撞之类的荒唐行为屡屡见报，令他执掌家族公司的母亲倍感压力。亚瑟如同无知孩童一般的行为屡屡需要老管家霍布森（海伦•米伦 Helen Mirren 饰）收拾残局，母亲无法忍受亚瑟为公司名誉抹黑的举止，以断绝其经济来源要挟亚瑟和自己得力的女助手苏珊成婚，苏珊颇有事业野心，一心要靠这场婚姻提升她建筑商家庭出身的地位。看见钱财份上向母亲低头的亚瑟在街上偶遇无证导游娜奥米（格蕾塔•葛韦格 Greta Gerwig 饰），后者的风采令亚瑟萌发了爱意，在结婚和爱情的分叉路口，亚瑟希望找到完美结局，而这可能是他有生以来面临的最强挑战。

　　异装癖表演者班丽娜（Terence Stamp 饰）、米芝（Hugo Weaving 饰）因一位好友去世而再度聚首，米芝得到澳洲中部城市的表演机会邀请班丽娜同往，同行费莉茜（Guy Pearce 饰）为圆“沙漠女王”之梦要求搭伙，并借来了经改装的大巴作为代步工具。三人风风火火的踏上旅程，上了年纪的班丽娜于路对往事讳莫如深，与年轻躁动的费莉茜生出不少琐碎口角，米芝则不时陷入对自己那场婚姻的回忆。他们在沿途经过的小镇大秀妖冶，得到了不少惊愕的目光，当然也有赞许。因为一次抛锚，对班丽娜昔日表演难以忘怀的修理工老巴得以加入他们的旅程。众人终于抵达目的地，虽然观众不甚热情，但米芝终于见到了儿子，而班丽娜决定和老巴在一起……

　　A group of friends reunited after the suicide of one of them must face all the secrets and lies between them.

When a string of burglaries hits her town, Jennifer's keen eye for detail and her natural problem solving instincts even help her see the connection between these burglaries and local garage sales! Jennifer works with Detective Adam Iverson to investigate her theory that the perpetrators of the burglaries are fellow garage sale regulars. The case escalates to dangerous levels when Jennifer discovers the dead body of her friend. Even though the deceased's husband, Ben Douglas, finds nothing missing in their house, and the police label the death as accidental, Jennifer suspects that the death may be related to the burglaries.
