　　2002年，刚毕业的安颜（佟丽娅饰）被分配到长治县和平中学教书。出身城市的她，起初对乡村学校的教学环境和理念难以适应。但随着与学生的相处以及家访的深入，安颜逐渐认识到乡村教育的重要性并感受到了“被需要”的价值感。她在老校长于阗、现任校长符胜治（康爱石饰）的感召下，领悟并传承了“守”和“孵”的教育理念，成长为一名远近闻名的优秀教师。2012年，安颜出任和平中学分管后勤的副校长，推动“营养午餐”落地实施。2016年，安颜被启用为易地扶贫搬迁学校的校长。面对薄弱的教学基础和复杂的生源情况，安颜带领一批优秀的乡村教师将问题逐一解决，为孩子们创造了优质的学习环境。以安颜为代表的乡村教师们，步履不停、躬耕不辍，帮助一批批山村学子走向更广阔的天地。
