故事发生于封神大战后。姜子牙率领众神伐纣，赢得封神大战胜利，以为可以唤回世间安宁。然而，一切并未结束。一个偶然，姜子牙发现了原来“封神大战”之下酝酿着更大的阴谋。姜子牙开始踏上探寻真相的旅途......
超人联盟缴获了一个预言球，预言球预言星星球谜瑞岛的人鱼公主会变成泡沫消失，并引起星星球海洋危机。五超人接到超人联盟的任务，前往谜瑞岛人鱼部落阻止预言发生。没想到魔法师乐呵呵还是夺走了人鱼公主的歌声，让人鱼公主变成了泡沫，超人们未能阻止预言的发生。最后不放弃的超人们合力打败了乐呵呵，救回了已经变成泡沫的人鱼公主，同时拯救了海洋世界。
タイトルには魔法少女とあるが魔法少女アニメではなく、魔法少女であるくるみが敵と戦う様子をただ傍観している男子中学生3人を主人公としたギャグアニメである。公式のジャンルは「魔法少女傍観系ギャグアニメ」。 アニメ本編は隔週で配信されており、本編の翌週には声優陣によるオーディオコメンタリー番組「せいぜいがんばれ！魔法少女くるみの中の人」を10分枠で配信。
