电视动画《加速世界》改编自日本轻小说家川原砾原作的同名轻小说。在2011年10月2日举办的“电撃文库 秋之祭典2011”活动上，发表了《加速世界》TV动画化的消息 。电视动画于2012年4月6日开始播放，全24话。电视动画的现实舞台是在东京都高圆寺站和神奈川县横浜市MM 21地区。 在游戏《加速世界 Stage:01 -银翼的觉醒-》（2012年9月13日发售）及《加速世界 Stage www .iav5.com :02 -加速的顶点-》（2013年1月31日发售）的初回限定版则内附了OVA动画，PS3版内附BD版，PSP则内附DVD版。
故事以中世纪欧风世界为舞台，喜欢看书的侯爵千金「依莉亚娜」与王太子「克里斯朵夫」为了各自的需求，订下有名无实的婚约。某日依莉亚娜误会王子找到真正心爱的女孩，做好了取消婚约的准备，因而展开各种事件并卷入王家的阴谋。 原作小说原先于小说投稿网站「成为小说家吧」进行连载，后由一迅社进行出版，另有改编为漫画版
