　　《解放者》将焦点放在了玻利瓦尔的身上——作为19世纪拉丁美洲独立运动最杰出的领袖，他领导了1810—1830年期间委内瑞拉、哥伦比亚、厄瓜多尔、秘鲁等地的独立战争，建立了联合委内瑞拉、哥伦比亚和厄瓜多尔的大哥伦比亚共和国及秘鲁、玻利维亚等国家，是南美共和制度的奠基者。玻利瓦尔曾去西班牙学习哲学、历史和文学，游历了法国、意大利的许多地方，亲眼看到法国大革命后欧洲社会的改革和变化，深受鼓舞。在欧洲，玻利瓦尔遇到了他的老师罗德里格斯。老师鼓励他积极投身到争取美洲解放的革命中去，并对他说：已经到了把西班牙人赶出美洲的时候了，你应该去完成这件事。玻利瓦尔当即向老师表示：“我准备把自己的生命贡献给这个事业。我以自己的人性和生命宣誓，在我没有打碎西班牙束缚着我的祖国的枷锁以前，我的手将要不停地打击敌人，我的心也不会安静。”这些誓言成玻利瓦尔坚定不移的奋斗目标。从此以后，他返回祖国，投身于为独立和自由而斗争的洪流。
　　《解放者》将在南美地区和欧洲地区拍摄，制作规模相当庞大，将辗转13个外景地，完成100多个不同场景的拍摄，调集的群众演员就多达10000人，是南美影史上规模最大的独立电影，有可能成为一部南美版的《勇敢的心》。
