　　故事发生在美国内战结束不久之后，曾经在前线奋勇杀敌的军官基德上尉（汤姆·汉克斯 Tom Hanks 饰）如今成为了一名读报人。他辗转于一个又一个小镇，为生活在那里的居民们带来来自世界各地的最新的消息。
　　一天，基德在德州遇见了一个名叫乔安娜（海伦娜·泽格尔 Helena Zengel 饰）的小女孩，这个可怜的姑娘在6年前被印第安人掳走抚养，如今，重新获得了自由的她将要回到叔叔和阿姨的身边开始正常人的生活，虽然这并不是乔安娜真正想要的。基德和乔安娜之间产生了一种奇妙的联结，于是，基德答应护送乔安娜去她应该去的地方，两人要共同面对的，除了险恶的自然环境外，还有叵测的人心。

　　来自农村的女孩白小羽（齐溪 饰）是经济管理毕业的硕士，到服装设计公司S&T应聘会计师；文艺青年夏密（郭京飞 饰）在法国学习服装设计，回国后一直找不到工作，在朋友大鲍（王一 饰）的介绍下到S&T做设计助理。俩人同一天去到服装设计公司S&T应聘；却因为人事部的电脑出错，俩人换了工作，小羽向夏密提出将错就错，不把工作换回来；而对小羽一见钟情的夏密竟然答应。两个人看似一帆风顺，没想到已经身陷一场权利争斗当中——董事长和沙老师（孔维 饰）为争夺S&T的控制权。沙老师把小羽的设计图透露出去，并且把泄密之责嫁祸给小羽。在她陷入人生最低谷的时候，和夏密再次邂逅，俩人相互鼓励，决定联手反击沙老师，拯救S&T……

　　1942年的德国，17岁的少年Friedrich（马克思·雷迈特 Max Riemelt 饰）努力训练自己，梦想有朝一日能够加入纳粹的训练营。在通过重重考试之后，他获得了机会，然而他的父亲却极力反对，于是他伪造父亲在文书上签名，成功成为了训练营的一名成员，开始了每天艰苦的训练。在其中，他认识了Albrecht（汤姆·希林 Tom Schilling 饰），一个德国军官的儿子，两人建立了深厚的友情。然而Albrecht却不热衷于纳粹，反而更喜欢文学和写作。Albrecht的父亲却希望儿子跟他一样，以后成为一名纳粹军官，两人矛盾不断。在训练营里，Friedrich和Albrecht发现了许多丑恶的现象，Friedrich的信仰开始有所动摇。而在一次水中训练中，Albrecht却再也没有从水中出来......

　　范高尚（梁小龙 饰）是一名古董商，企图得到价值连城的阿閦佛佛头，古三（来喜 饰）是范高尚的手下，参与了盗取佛头的行动。古三的奶奶身患重病需要巨额医药费，于是，古三私自将佛头卖给了孙明贤（元华 饰），卷款逃跑，范高尚因此十分愤怒。
　　之后，古三结识了名为莲儿（鲁缘缘 饰）的女子，两人志趣相投，惺惺相惜，而莲儿失散多年的父亲在国外意外的发现了佛头，将其买下，带回济南。佛头重现江湖令范高尚蠢蠢欲动，他掳走了古三的奶奶，命古三以佛头来交换。改过自新的古三决心不再助纣为虐，他同警方合作，最终将贪婪的范高尚绳之于法。
