这是一个设定在乡村场景下，却属于我们所有人的童年故事。剧情贴近真实的社会背景，既有现实生活中普通人的希望和追求，也有他们的焦虑和苦恼。在快速发展的工业化、城市化进程中，中国的城市和农村发生了翻天覆地的变化，也随之出现了很多新的社会问题。故事中许多社会现实背景，包括城市教育问题带来的普遍焦虑、自然缺失、乡村教育现状、留守儿童、移动互联网发展、新农村建设等等，都构成了作品中小主人公们的活动场景。剧情内容围绕中国孩子的童年故事，引发孩子和大人的情感共鸣。人们的日子过得越来越红火，可是乡村不再平静，不管大人还是孩子，每个人都需要重新适应环境，不断成长。
