　　远东机械厂的厂长苏海亮在超级市场和建国歌舞厅先后两次巧遇深华实业公司经理叶珊。被她那美丽的容貌和高雅的气质深深吸引。他俩相识了。过了几天，苏海明意外地接到叶珊的电话，便约叶珊到一家咖啡馆。两人像久别重逢的老朋友般交谈，互诉衷肠，相见恨晚。 而苏海明自己的事可没有那么顺心了：远东机械厂财政困难，面临破产；他在报社当记者的妹妹苏倩与丈夫闹离婚，这两件事搅得他心烦意乱。他在家里愁眉苦脸，长吁短叹。贤慧的妻子小莉同情地劝慰他，并提醒他找商界的朋友帮忙借些钱暂度难关。苏海亮立刻想到叶珊，一通电话，叶珊果然愿意相助。 一次叶珊生病住院，苏海明热情地去看望她。经过一段时间的交往，两人感情愈深。叶珊与其丈夫是名义上的夫妻，她也深深爱上了苏海明。海明则更是海誓山盟要娶叶珊，但回到家看到贤妻小莉却总是张不开口。这样更难以面对叶珊，所有的信誓旦旦都落了空。叶珊怅然若失。 苏倩因工作关系采访卸任局长方园，见他人品高尚、才华出众，身上有一种成熟男人的魅力，便爱上了他。苏倩坚决与丈夫鲁中离婚，鲁中迁怒于方园，去找他纠缠，方园只得远离苏倩。 远东机械厂扭亏为盈，取得较好效益，在建华歌舞厅举行联谊会。会上苏海明当众感谢叶珊对该厂的大力支持和帮助。叶珊听后毅然离去。 一年后，在超级市场苏海亮与叶珊不期而遇，两人只客气地寒暄了几句便匆匆分手，而在远处向对方投去深情的一瞥。

　　某晚大卫比赛归来，突然发现格萝蕾拉正要被人强暴，他冲进去拯救了心上人。原来强暴者是格萝蕾拉所在夜总会的老板（Frank Silvera 饰），为了生计不得不忍辱负重。两个失意之人情谊相合，遂约定离开伤心地，寻找他们的幸福。大卫外出筹集旅费，而夜总会老板在得知格萝蕾拉即将离开的消息时勃然大怒，派出打手绑架了她……
