　　本剧讲述的是嘉靖与海瑞的故事。嘉靖三十九年，贪墨横行、民不聊生。奸臣严嵩（倪大红 饰）党羽密布、权倾朝野，清官海瑞（黄志忠 饰）不惧强权，敢于向腐朽封建的皇权发起挑战。皇帝朱厚熜（陈宝国 饰）练道修玄二十载，始终把控着大明朝的军政、经济大权。当时的中国经济发达，市井文化也算繁荣，但社会各阶层矛盾突出，国家大面积实施的土地兼并使千百万农民一夜之间失去了赖以生存的土地。严嵩的专权引起了地方各级官员的不满，“倒严”之声甚嚣尘上，从上至下、从里到外，从朝廷到地方官府，到处充斥着尔虞我诈、勾心斗角的血雨腥风。忠臣良将与乱臣贼子纷纷登上了当时的历史舞台......

　　年过半百的管区民警李久平（李保田 饰）不想刑警同行那样干些追拿要犯的惊天事迹，相反他常年游走在街头巷尾，协调管区百姓处理鸡毛蒜皮的琐事，小偷小摸都可以算作大案了。平常人一个的李久平日常里也有许多要操心的事，在理发店混日子的儿子李小山和同院儿当模特的齐艳艳相恋，当爹的自然极力反对。引以为傲的女儿李小文在小提琴演奏时，邂逅了多年前的老街坊马志高。做股票生意的马对小文大献殷勤，而他糟糕的经济状况也不可避免对小文产生影响。患脑血管梗塞的父亲李大山去世，孝子李久平哀伤不已，孩子们的爱情婚事更令他牵肠挂肚。

　　故事发生在解放前后。郑琛（陈庭威 饰）、李乃强（欧锦棠 饰）和朱润（刘锡贤 饰）是广东潮州同乡的好兄弟，郑琛父亲是当地殷实的商人，郑家在当地有着非常高的声望。少年郑琛就已经显示出了过人的谋略和胆识，十年潮州一带土匪作乱，郑琛用计吓跑了他们，随后更是主持公道，化解了上莲村、下莲村之间的恩怨。解放后，他和李乃强、朱润一起来到了香港闯天下。初到香港，三人穷得叮当响，但是他们并不灰心，而是开始了由低做起，一步一个脚印，在经历了一连串了风风雨雨后，三人都获得了巨大的成功，郑琛成了香港的制衣业龙头，刚正不阿的李乃强在经过廉政风暴后终于在警界站稳了脚跟，朱润则成了连锁饮食业巨头。他们的奋斗历史也印证了香港的发展。

　　《魔女宝鉴》是韩国JTBC电视台播出的金土剧。电视剧围绕朝鲜时代医学家许浚年轻时期的魔幻史剧，将作为金土（周五、周六播出）电视剧《旭氏南征记》的后续作播出。
