根据泰国著名作家的同名小说改编，故事发生在阿瑜陀耶王朝最繁荣的年代，女主角精通泰语和西方医术，受过良好的教育，且会说法语。在那个年代，女性从事医学和法学是离经叛道的行为。男主角是一位具有光明职业前途的首都高级警官，他们因联手调查法国军官离奇死亡案件而走到一起。
